Glen Innes in the Summer

When you get tired of the heat and humidity this summer, remember that Glen Innes is so close, but worlds away.   Glen Innes is 1,062 metres above sea level.   With an average high temperature of 26 degrees in January, Glen Innes is the place to go when it is just too hot.  If you can’t beat the heat come to Glen Innes!

You will cool down as soon as you get to Glen Innes.   With our alpine climate we refer to our summer as being air-conditioned.  You will notice the change in temperature as soon as you arrive. Some of the wonderful reasons to come to Glen Innes in the summer include our National Parks.    Within the National Parks there is ample opportunity for swimming, bird watching, experiencing beautiful waterfalls, bush walking, mountain bike riding and more  - you can do all of this in a world devoid of humidity!

Another wonderful activity to enjoy in summer is fishing.   Fabulous fun for the whole family and no-one will complain about being hot and bothered! Pack a picnic and find a cool shady place by Rocky Ponds Creek or enjoy a drive through our stunning countryside. Soak up the history and do a historic walk through town and visit the Land of the Beardies and History House Museum.

Glen Innes – so close yet a world away.

Award winning 10 piece Celtic, ensemble, Murphy's Pigs, are bringing their exhilarating "There's No Lipstick On These Pigs" show to Murwillumbah as part of their 2015 tour of regional NSW. They will be accompanied by their Celtic Dancers, the Piglets (pig-napped from Cape Byron Celtic Dance Troupe) and are delighted to be sharing the evening with Byron Bay-based Mick McHugh.

Playing a blend of Celtic rock and traditional folk, Murphy's Pigs drag you head-first into their world of rugged mountains, stormy oceans, fearsome battles, unrequited love and a drop or two of the whiskey. An insane number of instruments, powerful vocal harmonies, an award-winning dance troupe and stunning choreography unite to create an exciting, distinctive and unforgettable experience. If you like singing your heart out, stamping your feet, dancing like a loon or just enjoying a great night out, this show is not to be missed.

Honest, heart-warming lyrics and engaging stories combine with acoustic guitar, vocals, harmonica and foot percussion in Irish singer-songwriter Mick McHugh's show. Mick strives to connect, inspire and disseminate positive messages in his very personal style.
