One of the highlights of the Glen Innes event calendar is undoubtedly the Australian Celtic Festival. It is held annually in Glen Innes during autumn. Autumn is perhaps the most spectacular season in the New England Highlands due to misty mornings, cool evenings and the stunning autumn foliage.
In 2018 the Australian Celtic Festival will celebrate Brittany, Galacia and Asturias. The festival will run from Thursday 3rd May – Sunday 6th May 2018. The four-day festival features entertainment that includes a street parade, kirking of the Tartan, massed pipe bands, strong man events, yard dog trials, children’s entertainment, a fun run, dancing, flag raising ceremonies, poet breakfasts, market stalls and Celtic foods.
The Festival attracts clans, cultural groups, dancers and performers from all over the world. Visitors to the Festival will experience Celtic music and dance at the four different stages based at the Festival’s main venue, the Australian Standing Stones. Throughout the festival there are also many scheduled events during the day and evening in many venues around Glen Innes.
The Australian Standing Stones are an array of granite monoliths located in the heart of Glen Innes. They are often shrouded in autumn mists in the early mornings and late afternoons. You don’t want to miss the incredible experience of rising at down to listen to the pipes at the Stones.
At the Rest Point we recommend making your accommodation bookings as soon as you can to avoid disappointment. Keep an eye on our website and our social media pages for announcements of evening events in the Hereford Steakhouse Char Grill closer to the date.
A wonderful time to be in the Glen Innes Highlands.
